The Bluestone Fire Slab is made from Bluestone fire clay, a refractory material  made for high heat and has virtually zero thermal expansion. The surface is made up of a mosaic of stoneware clay tiles. It has two stainless steel eyelets (one with a lock-nut) to hold two optional mild steel accessories. The photo shows a a grate but is now supplied with a plug.

An ash catcher and a hiegth adjustable charcoal grid for the base of the slab are not included with each fire-pit, but can be purchased as optional extras. The fire slab is weather resistant although we suggest the accessories be kept under cover/indoors when not in use. The mild steel trim may require periodic minor touch-ups.
